froehliches Halloween!
Es ist nich allzuviel passiert in letzter Zeit ... die FH schleicht vor sich hin (muesste oefters gehen), Deutschland duempelt in der selbstgefaelligen Flaute und ich hab' endlich nen Job gefunden.

Not to many things happened recently, college isn't too bad (perhaps I should just show up more often), Germany is in its very own deep and comfy Depression and I eventually found a job!
Manche werden sich erinnern, dass ich ueber den letzten Job schon genug gejammert hatte, aber der neue hier ... haut dem Fass echt den Boden raus. Ich muss Leute anrufen und Ihnen Meinungsumfragen aus dem Kreuz leiern. Das wird dann erfolgsbasiert bezahlt - heisst, nur wenn jemand auch wirklich bis zum bitteren Ende eines u. U. 45 Minuten dauernden Interviews an der Leitung bleibt, gibts auch Kohle, ansonsten NIX. Das ganze soll dann auf die Dauer einen akzeptablen Stundenlohn ergeben, was ich aber noch nicht ganz glaube.
Those of you who remember me whinging about my old job, this new job is worse, its the straw that breaks the camel's back, so to speak. I am to phone up people, make them participate any opinion poll my boss selects for the day and then I'm only getting paid for calls where the called person stays on the line til the very end. Depending on the answers such an interview could last up to 45 minutes and if they hang up before the last question, I'm not getting paid at all. The same is true if I'm ringing numbers for an hour and no one has any time to answer my boring and sometimes very personal questions. They said during the introduction training, that usually this sums up to a pretty good wage rate per hour, but I just don't believe them.
Fuer mich ist das Konzept eher Sklavenarbeit und entweder die Firma haelt ihre Mitarbeiter fuer saubloed, oder die glauben wirklich, sie haetten einen Super-Deal mit dem Meinungsforschungsinstitut gemacht. Armes Deutschland. Die meisten anderen Jobangebote sind auch eher mies, meist "Werden Sie nebenbei reich" mit 0190... Bewerber-Hotline :-S
To me this is rather close to slavery and either this company thinks their hires are extremely stupid or they really believe they made a pretty good deal with that opinion poll institute and are offering a very interesting position. Poor Germany. Most of the other job offers around read similarily promising as in "Become rich from home..." and then a 3EUR/Minute premium rate application hotline. Yeah rite.
Heute erst fand ich ne interessante Annonce, nur um bei Recherchen zu der Firma online einen Artikel ueber Wirtschaftsspionage zu finden, bei der eben diese Firma als TAETER gennant wird, na hallo!
Only today I found a pretty good job offer, but thanks to searching for this company on google, I found an article about industrial espionage where this very company was mentioned as the OFFENDER! There we go ... That's all what Hof is good for ... feck.
Der Polizeistaat Bayern fuehlt sich wohl zur Zeit auch pudelwohl, mir ist das nach 1nem Jahr auf einer Insel, wo die 0815-Polizisten noch nicht mal Schusswaffen tragen, alles sehr suspekt hier. Meinen Bruder haben sie letzte Woche am hell-lichten Tag vom Moped geholt, in die Augen geschaut und fuer ne ganze Stunde mit auf die Wache genommen, wegen angeblichen Drogenverdachts, dabei sind dann noch ein paar seltsame Bemerkungen seitens der Beamten gefallen, so dass man schon glauben muss, die hatten ihn einfach nur auf dem Kicker und wollten mal wieder ihre Muskeln spielen lassen. (Wahnsinn wie lange Saetze man im Deutschen bilden kann ;-)
The police state Bavaria however seems to be a brilliant overall condition. After one year on the "our coppers don't even wear guns" island, I really find this rather scary here. My brother was stopped in the middle of the day last week, when he drove up town on his wee motor bike. The cops look at him and told him he's arrested and is to be taken to the police station because they suspected him to drive under the influence of drugs. At the police station the officers made some strange comments about how they know him and stuff, so I really think they just wanted to have some fun and show him who's the boss around town.
