Let me introduce you to ... / Darf ich vorstellen:

My new / mein neues ...

so that'd be my very own blogging website, independent from any portals such as blogger.com
das waere dann also mein persoenliches, eigenes Blog, unabhaengig von Portalen wie blogger.com
I'm still playing around with the website's code, discovering features and possibilities. Once I feel comfortable enough with it, I'll switch this blog - sven-s.blogspot.com over to my own website fword.de
Meanwhile, feel free to have a look at http://blog.fword.de but don't expect much relevant content yet please.
In der Zwischenzeit koennt Ihr natuerlich gern mal einen Blick auf http://blog.fword.de werfen, erwartet aber bitte noch keine weltbewegenden Inhalte.
cheerio,
Tschuess,
Schubi

spreadin' the word: Carlow is the place to go

Today, I held a presentation at the Fachhochschule about the Carlow Institute of Technology.

It was all thrown together in a bit of a hurry, only started last night at about 10pm.

But it all went grand, there were about 15 interested students listening to what I had to tell them bout good old Carlow. The responsible international office girl later told me that my presentation was among the more popular ones, other countries/locations attracted less listeners.

So, yeah, everybody was quite happy with the information I could give them. Sure I was all positive about Carlow and Ireland but I also told them bout the downsides of rural Ireland and how things distinctly work different on the Isle.

College's fun!

Well, ... this is the story of how I got kicked out of college ...

On Friday I received a letter sent by my German college's administration office. It read something like this "Dear Mr. Schubert, the university of applied sciences XXX has decided to expel you from our institution on grounds of you failing to register in time for the current summer term".

ALRITE!

Exactly what you need on a Friday afternoon, just the thing to sweeten your Paddy's Day and weekend.

It goes without saying that I had paid and registered in time, which is exactly why I was not happy with that letter.

So, while I wasn't in the mood for the black stuff on Friday and after fantasising about all kinds of revenge to take against those guys in the college administration, I rang them up on Monday morning.

Turned out that they just had overlooked something in their system and sent out the letter by accident so to speak.

Great!

Well, eventually, I was told to tear the letter up into pieces and forget about the incident. I've thrown away the letter alrite, but to forget, it might take a wee bit longer than just a few days ;-)

Éire go brách - Happy Saint Patrick's Day

Two men were sitting next to each other at a bar. After a while, one guy looks at the other and says, "I can't help but think, from listening to you, that you're from Ireland."
The other guys responds proudly, "Yes, that I am."
The first guy says, "So am I. And where about from Ireland might you be?"
The other guy answers, "I'm from Dublin, I am."
The first guy responds, "Sure and begora, and so am I. And what street did you live on in Dublin?"
The other guys says, " A lovely little area it was, I lived on McCleary Street in the old central part of town."
The first guy says, "Faith and it's a small world, so did I! And to what school would you have been going?"
The other guy answers, "Well now, I went to St. Mary's of course."
The first guy gets really excited and say! s, :And so did I. Tell me, what year did you graduate?"
The other guy answers, "Well now, let's see, I graduated in 1964."
The first guy exclaims, "The Good Lord must be smiling down upon us! I can hardly believe our good luck at winding up in the same bar tonight. Can you believe it, I graduated from St. Mary's in 1964 too."
About this time a woman walks in to the bar, sits down and orders a drink.
The bartender walks over to her shaking his head and muttering, "It's going to be a long night tonight."
The woman asks, "Why do you say that?"
The bartender replies, "The Murphy twins are drunk again."
