Mir persönlich fällt zu den Protesten/Ausschreitungen/Aufständen nicht viel ein, ich empfinde Sympathie für die Anwohner der betroffenen Städte, ein wenig Verständnis für die Brandstifter, auch wenn ich deren Mittel ablehne, na und für die Politiker hab' ich erstmal gar nichts übrig.
Da entladen sich offenbar die Spannungen von Jahrzehnten einer fehlgeleiteten Einwanderungs- und Integrationspolitik, der momentanen wirtschaftlichen Lage und es zeigen sich die Folgen von fatalen Fehleinschätzungen und Sparen an den falschen Ecken.
Personally, I cannot comment much on the current protests/riots/uprisings - I feel sympathy for the inhabitants of those towns, I have _some_ understanding for them firebugs, even though I don't approve of their ways of protesting and well, the politicians, they're obivously nuts.
It looks like the riots are the result of decades of an ill-fated immigration/integration policy, the current economic downturn and fatal misinterpretations of social indicators as well as pinching and scraping in the social and educational sector of the 'banlieues'.
Es lässt sich auch leicht erkennen, dass das Problem nicht allein auf den Grossraum Paris beschränkt ist - aus einigen Orten, in denen Freunde von mir leben, sind auch Zwischenfälle gemeldet worden - so Rouen, Lille, Nice und natürlich Paris. Meldet Euch doch mal - Aurelie/Julien/Simon, Nico/Elsa oder sonstwer, der zu den Ereignissen was sagen kann, ich hoffe, Ihr seid alle okay.
It is easy to see that the problem isn't confined to the greater Paris area - from some cities where friends of mine live, there's reports of first incidents - such as Rouen, Lille, Nice and of course Paris. Hey Aurelie/Julien/Simon, Nico/Elsa, whoever wants to comment on the current events - I'd like to hear from youse and hope you are okay.

Yeah, crazy stuff going on in La France. Last night they burnt cars in the German cities of Berlin and Bremen too - they suspect gangs from abroad though ... not residents of Germany.
Don't worry Sve, we're all fine (I, Aurelie, Julien and Simon). What is happening in France is crazy. Every night, hundreds of cars are burnt. And it has happened for 12 days! The problem is the government hasn't done anything to change the situation! Sarkozy says that the situation has to change nobody sees the difference! Well, I hope it will be calmer in a few days. Even Le Havre and Dunkirk experience this stuff!
Okay, glad to hear :) Pity the politicians decided to fight fire with oil not with sand ... so to speak. They should put money and effort instead of/besides cops into the suburbs.
