Tragedy

Last Friday two Irish students died in their rented home in Lorient (France) from a house fire.
They were, just like many of us last year - on the ERASMUS foreign exchange programme.

I was really shocked by those news. Relatives and friends dying from diseases is tough enough, but accidents are always hard to grasp.
It made me (once again) appreciate how smooth my year abroad went in the light of such tragedies.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the families and friends of the girls.

Letzten Freitag starben zwei irische Studentinnen durch einen Schwelbrand in ihren Haus in Lorient (Frankreich). Sie waren - wie viele von uns letztes Jahr - im Rahmen des ERASMUS Austauschprogramms fuer ein Jahr in Frankreich.

Diese Nachricht schockiert mich zutiefst. Wenn Verwandte und Freunde durch Krankheiten sterben, ist das schlimm genug, aber Unfaelle sind immer wieder schwer zu begreifen. Diese Nachricht liess mich (wieder mal) erkennen, wieviel Glueck in hatte, dass mein Auslandsjahr so glatt ging, im Angesicht solcher Katastrophen.

Ich moechte hiermit mein Beileid allen Angehoerigen und Freunden ausdruecken.
